How do you make an online store link for your Instagram bio?

By the Gritticon team · Updated · 5 min read

Make a shop page that holds your whole catalogue with prices, then put its link in your Instagram bio. Customers tap the link, choose items and order without messaging you or installing an app. With Gritticon OMS the link carries your shop’s name and takes cash-on-delivery orders from the day you publish.

What a bio link needs to do

Instagram gives you one place for a link that people can tap, so that link has to do the whole job. Someone who saw a Reel and liked a product should be able to tap once, find that product with its price, choose a size, and order — without sending “price?” in a message and waiting for your reply.

A link that only lists your other links, or a catalogue that still ends in “DM to order”, puts the conversation back in the middle. The best bio link ends in an order.

Your options

  • A page of links: quick to set up, but each link still leads somewhere else, and orders still come through messages.
  • A full website: flexible, but someone has to build it, host it and keep it working, and a checkout usually means a payment setup first.
  • A shop page built for ordering: your catalogue, prices and options, with checkout on the same page. This is what “online store link” usually means for a seller on Instagram.

Build the shop behind the link

Start with what customers ask about most. Group items the way you already talk about them — Kurtas and Bags, Breakfast and Mains — and give every item a photo and a price. If an item comes in sizes or with extras, set those up as choices, each with any extra charge.

In Gritticon OMS, categories hold your items, and each item can carry option groups such as Size and Extras with price add-ons. If you want to show a sale, an original price can appear crossed out next to the selling price. Your shop name, colours, logo and banner sit at the top, so the page looks like yours. When you sign up you choose Food or Retail, which shapes the catalogue and the shop layout.

Make it easy to order on a phone

Almost everyone who taps a bio link is holding a phone, often on mobile data. Use clear, well-lit photos that show the product at its true colour. Keep item names short and put the detail in the description. Show the price on every item, and set sizes and extras as choices rather than notes. Put your best sellers first in each group, so nobody has to scroll to find what they came for.

Then order something from your own link, on your own phone, as a customer would. Every question you have while doing it is a question your customers will have too.

Publish and get the link

Your shop’s link is https://{your-shop}.stores.gritticon.com. The short name in the link can be changed until you publish; after that it stays fixed, so links you have already shared keep working.

Before the shop goes live there is an identity check, and you can keep setting up while it is done. Cash on delivery works from your first order with no payment setup, so you do not have to connect a payment company before you publish.

Put the link to work on Instagram

  • Put the link in your bio and say “order from the link in bio” in captions.
  • Use the same link in Stories and highlights; it opens the whole shop, not just one item.
  • Pin a short post that shows how to order, for new followers.
  • Answer questions in messages as you do today, and end with the link.

Quick answers

Common questions

Can I change the name in my shop link?

Yes, until you publish. After publishing, the short name in the link stays fixed so links you have already shared keep working.

Do customers need an account or an app to order from the link?

No. The shop opens in a browser and customers order without an account or an app.

What does it cost?

The first 25 orders are free. After that it is a monthly subscription with GST included: ₹799 for up to 150 orders, ₹1,299 for 151 to 300, and ₹1,999 above 300. There is no cut of any order.
